A Northampton International Academy student has been selected as a First Sea Lord Cadet, making her one of the top Royal Navy cadets in the country.
Year 12 student Georgia Manton has been selected for this role, which is one of the highest honours a Combined Cadet Force (CCF) Royal Navy cadet can achieve. It follows an extremely competitive selection process and Georgia is one of only three CCF cadets selected across the country.
First Sea Lord Cadets act as ambassadors to raise the profile of Naval Cadets whilst also gaining privileged insight into higher naval policy and the work of very senior Royal Navy serving officers. They serve for a 12-month period which will begin in January and will attend high-profile ceremonies, formal parades and other significant occasions during the year.
Executive Headteacher at Northampton International Academy Martin Serrão said: “We are incredibly proud of Georgia, this is a significant honour and testament to her hard work and dedication as a cadet. She’s an outstanding representative of the school and the DNA of NIA and to be one of only three First Sea Lord Cadets chosen from the thousands of young people who make up the CCF is a considerable achievement. We are looking forward to seeing all the opportunities and experiences she will be able to enjoy this year.”
