East Midlands Academy Trust honours chair after seven years’ service

The chair of the East Midlands Academy Trust board Kevin Crompton is standing down after seven years.

Kevin became the chair of the trust board when East Midlands Academy Trust (EMAT) was first established in 2018 and has played an integral role in setting the strategic objectives of the trust.

A former teacher, Kevin has worked in various leading roles in local authorities, including Director of Children’s Services in Solihull and Bedford, and has been an adviser to the Teacher Training Agency on teacher standards.

EMAT chief executive Joshua Coleman said: “Kevin has been an inspirational and impactful chair, showing real commitment to ensuring every child is supported to be the best they can be, challenging our schools and holding senior leaders to account.

“He has been with EMAT from the very beginning, helping to develop us into the inclusive and innovative trust we are today. I’d like to express my immense gratitude for his service so far and I look forward to continue working with him as he remains on the board as a trustee.”

Kevin will officially stand down as chair at the Trust Board meeting on October 7th, when Stephen Morales will be officially appointed as the new chair.

Kevin said: “I think it is good form for an organisation to change chairs from time to time and I am delighted to be handing over to Stephen Morales who I know will make an excellent successor.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported me during my time as chair, particularly Josh Coleman, our chief executive.”
