Shepherdswell Academy Nursery Consultation
Shepherdswell Academy is proposing to set up its own nursery provision. This requires the school to obtain approval from the DfE to change the age range of the school to include nursery aged children. As part of this process they need to consult with parents and the wider community.
The purpose of the consultation, which will run until Friday 18th November 2023, is to provide information relating to the proposal to establish this nursery, and to seek the views of parents and the wider community and enable you to make an informed response to the opening of the nursery.
The proposal is for the school to open a nursery for children aged 2-4 years. To do this the school will need to change the age range for the school from 4-7 years to 2-7 years. The plan is for the facilities to be updated and made suitable for the provision.
The plan is to open in September 2023. The provision will be teacher-led and will be opened to both funded and privately funded places. Statutory funded sessions will be either the 15 hours or 30 hours. Extra hours will be charged per hour. The setting of sessions and rates will be agreed upon later but would be locally competitive. The aim will be to admit up to full-time equivalent 16 places for children aged 3-4 years and 8 places for children aged 2-3 years.
